Slumdog Millionaire

< My Snowman | Blog | My Sponsored Walk >

Last night I met up with Ed, an old ex-office workmate.

I had not seen him for almost exactly a year, which was when we both took redundancy at the same time in my last job.

You can read a bit about Ed by clicking here.

We met up in Guildford for a drink, and to go to the Odeon cinema to see to movie called Slumdog Millionaire.

Ed has not been working since his redundancy and has been busy doing some courses.

It’s a good idea to do some courses to gain new skills, its something I really need to think about doing to get a better paid job.

Inside the Odeon cinema we bought some ice cream and booked our seats.

We paid a bit extra and got the comfortable seats.

I enjoyed my ice cream, it was a scoop of vanilla, with caramel sauce and some chocolate biscuit lumps.

Ed had two large scoops of ice cream, one was a sort of cherry flavour, and the other of vanilla.

Slumdog Millionaire was filmed in India and was a British production.

British Director Danny Boyle, who has worked on classic British films like Trainspotting and 28 Days Later, directed the movie.

They won many awards for the film and it has received a lot of press.

Slumdog Millionaire's Success

The story is about the life of a young Indian man called Jamal, his brother Salim, and a girl he falls in love with called Latika, who all grow up in the slums of India as street children.

Jamal gets to play the famous television quiz show ‘Who Wants To Be a Millionaire’. The host of the show thinks he is cheating, so he gets interrogated by the Police during a break in the show, which is when we get to learn about the story of his life.

Some scenes of the film were quite hard hitting, but there was also a happy positive side to the story such as the love interest, which makes it a feel good movie.

The cinematography was done really well, and the music was great.

It is worth staying to watch the Bollywood style dance routine in the end credits too.

I really enjoyed the movie. I can definitely recommend seeing it to anyone who has not gone to see it yet.

I enjoyed meeting up with Ed and hearing about what he had been up to since we last saw each other too.
