Eggs On Worthing Beach

< My Sponsored Walk | Blog | Visit to Denbies Vineyard >

Last week I went with my parents to a coastal town called Worthing to get some sea air and to enjoy the sunny weather.

The last time I was in Worthing there were tonnes of wood washed up on the beach, it was on the news, and I wrote a blog about it here.

Most of the beaches nearest to where I live are not very exciting or comfortable to sit on. They are mostly covered in stones, very windy and cold.

I took my camera with me.

There were a large amount of seagulls and other birds feeding on bread, or chips close to where we parked. I saw a mother sitting on a park beach with her small baby girl in a pushchair beside her. The baby girl was enjoying an ice cream and a huge Herring Gull was at her feet watching her eat it. I’m sure the Herring Gull was about to fly off with her ice cream.

Near the beach, I saw some nice new apartments that were being built. If I had lots of money, then I would like to live by the sea in a luxury flat like that.

As we walked on I saw some expensive houses by the sea, a sailing boat shaped weather vain, Daffodils, some beach huts, people fishing, and a 'No Cycling' sign, which had the £100 fine changed to £00 due to some graffiti.

We walked on further and I saw a tourist information board, which showed the different types of wildlife that lived there.

I had a few pictures taken of me on the beach.

Along the beach washed up on the shingle, I saw thousands of empty dried up eggs clustered together. I took a picture of them.

I thought fish might have laid them. I found out later that the eggs came from Whelks, a sort of edible snail like creature from the sea.

Snails are strange creatures which are hermaphrodites.

So, I learnt something new that day.
