Canal Boat Trip In Loxwood
< Day Out In Brighton | Blog | The Flying David Icke Show >
On a Sunday afternoon I thought it would be fun to go on a boat ride with a few friends, in a village near me called Loxwood.
I invited Jude and Ian to meet me in Guildford, and I drove us all to Loxwood. I played some good tunes on the way there.
I parked at a pub called the Onslow Arms, which is right by the canal, and the start of the boat trips in Loxwood. We had a quick drink before we got on the 3pm boat trip. One of the boat crew came in the pub, and a bell rang, to let us know that they were due to sail off, down the river.
We timed it just right, as it turned out the 3pm boat ride was the extended trip, which was to last and hour and a half.
Me, Jude and Ian left the pub to get on the boat.
It was a long narrow boat with lots of tables, chairs and a toilet. The trip was very popular; as the boat was almost full by the time we got on. So myself and Jude sat together at a table with a family and a toddler girl on the other side of the table, and Ian had to sit with an old lady on the opposite side of the boat to us. I guess the correct term for our seating was that we were sat Port and Starboard from each other.
I was a bit worried about the toddler girl, as she kept standing on the table, so she could have easily fallen out of the window and into the river. She didn't fall overboard.
The people running the boat trip were a little eccentric, but they seemed happy, and very knowledgeable on the history of the canal. There was a guide speaking on the boat the whole time about things that were on and off the canal.
Jude and Ian took most of the photos for the boat trip, as they had good seats by the windows. I took some photos of Ian sat on the boat, and Ian took a few photos of me and Jude sat together.

Along the river we saw a variety of interesting sights, such as locks, one had a funny name called 'Knob Lock', Ian took some photos of the sign using my camera. We also passed lots of different types of flowering plants and bushes growing along the banks, which the guide told us what they were called.

Then the boat turned around by reversing in another part of the canal, and we sailed back to the Onslow Arms pub.
Once we got off the boat we thanked the guide, and we decided to leave Loxwood and go elsewhere.
I drove us all to The Parrot pub, in a village called Forest Green.
I've been to The Parrot before with Frog, and we saw my aunt and uncle the last time I went, which I mention in a previous blog on here.
We had some drinks, and me and Jude ordered a light meal each. Ian didn't fancy eating anything. A very nice and attractive young Australian girl served us. She was very helpful and polite, which was nice. I had a Greek salad, but it was very small, and was all gone in a few mouthfuls, much like the last meal I ate there with my friend Frog.
Our conversation went on to the topic of the films that we liked to watch, sci-fi, and the books we like reading, whilst sat together eating.
When we finished our meal, I drove Jude and Ian back to Guildford. I nearly hit a taxi on the way back, as he was driving on my side of the road, but luckily he pulled over.
Jude felt a bit travel sick sitting in the back of my car, so she sat in the front on the way home.
We said good bye to each other in Guildford, then I headed back home.
The End?
I think I've covered most of the things I've been doing in my latest blogs, nothing much else to report on really, apart from a few more minor things.
I've been enjoying watching the new Battlestar Galactica series on DVD, its brilliant, I'm on the season 3 boxset now, and it gives me something to look forward to now when I come back home from work.
I'm still single, still sometimes looking, and still waiting for better things to happen in the future, life goes on...
I'll leave you all now with some famous last words from Mr V; "Yeeeap! Easillllyyy pleased. Bye for now, byyeeeeee for now." (Sorry, only my friend Tristan, and Mr V would get that one!)
