Dickens Unplugged

On Monday evening I was invited out by Jeannie to see a show with her at the Comedy Theatre, which is located in the Piccadilly area of London.

The show we went to see together was called Dickens Unplugged.

Jeannie sometimes gets free theatre tickets to see the shows in London, which she uses to check out actors, as she works doing films, TV, and music videos, as a producer and director.

I caught a train from Guildford to Waterloo, and then I got on the Underground to meet Jeannie outside Piccadilly Circus station.

Jeannie was a bit late, so we had to dash to the Comedy Theatre, to be there on time for when the show started at 7.30pm.

We arrived at the theatre, and they were just closing the doors as we got in.

Our tickets were for the stall seating area of the theatre. Luckily there were not that many people sat inside the theatre, so we instead sat in a better spot, not too far from the front, in the middle.

The theatre was very cosy inside and looked quite old. There were fake lit candles along the walls, and the decoration looked very nice.

The stage area was dressed with various props to make it look like the era of Charles Dickens.

Dickens Unplugged then began.

There was a group of about five Californian guys, dressed in Dickens era costume, who performed songs telling abridged versions of the classic stories, and of Dickens life.

The play was done in a funny and entertaining way.

We both really enjoyed the show.

After the show finished, I walked with Jeannie to Soho, and she bought some Chinese takeaway food.

Then we walked to the nearest Underground train station, and I headed back home.

I look forward to seeing some more theatre shows in London again soon!
