West Dean Victorian Gardens

Yesterday I went out with my parents for a walk round a place called
West Dean.
I took my camera with me and took many pictures, more than 160.
West Dean is between Midhurst and Chichester in West Sussex. They have a college where you can do short courses on things like painting, pottery, music, writing, and conservation.

The way into West Dean College
We walked round the gardens of West Dean, which were very nice, as they had lots of flowers, trees, arches made of flowering bushes, vegetable patches, fruit trees, green houses, streams, and bridges.

The gardens were in the style of the Victorian era. Going there was like stepping back in time.

I liked seeing all the tropical plants, orchids, fruit and vegetables growing inside the green houses. There were a lot of spiders inside them as well.

We walked round some fields and hills, which were filled with sheep.

It was funny watching the sheep, because as we approached them they started communicating to each other. Some of the sheep we got close to made a ‘baa’ noise which sounded like ‘Mmmeeeeennnnnn’ or the word ‘men’. They all run off as we got within a few meters of them. The other ones further away were on the look out for us and made a different kind of ‘baa’ sound to warn the sheep that we were coming. Some had louder ‘baa’s’ than others.

After we had walked round the fields, the sun was quite hot, so we had lunch there and left a bit later on.

I enjoyed seeing West Dean for the first time.
