Rob and Helen's Wedding Afterparty< Slugs And Slaters | Blog | Blackberrying > Last night I went to Rob and Helens wedding after party, which was at the Refectory next to Guildford Cathedral. I went there with my friend Frog. It was a good party. My friend Tristan was there DJ’ing. Many friends I knew like Tom and his wife, Adam and his girlfriend, and some people I used to work with were there too. I also saw Rob's brother Frank again, and Helen's brother Alan. The buffet food was very nice, with a great selection of things to eat. There was an ice sculpture made to look like a ski slope. One person could tip vodka at the top, whilst someone else could drink the vodka at the bottom of the ski slope. I saw someone nearly vomit after doing it, so I never went near the ice sculpture, which was due to my fear of puking up myself, if I was to do it. We watched as Rob and Helen dance together. Helen looked very nice in her wedding dress.
Everyone left around 11pm, apart from Frog, Tristan, his girlfriend Kate and me. We had the dance floor to ourselves for a few hours and Tristan put on some dance tunes. It was quite funny as we were messing about on the dance floor together. Frog and myself left the Refectory at around 1am. Tristan and his girlfriend packed up his DJ’ing equipment. I took a picture of the Guildford Cathedral on my mobile. It looked much like Frog’s recent painting.
There is a scene in the original Omen movie; it had Damien freaking out in a car, which was filmed on the road leading up to the cathedral.
I also took a picture of Guildford’s skyline all lit up, as we walked down the other side of the hill.
We bought some take away food from a nearby kebab shop and ate it on our journey back to Frog’s cottage. We stood outside the Platform 9 bar, watching people go in and out of the place, whilst eating our take away food. They were playing some good techno music in there. One drunken Chavy bloke said his friends ‘Look its Jesus’ whilst pointing to Frog. Frog was dressed in a traditional Indian costume. A girl spoke in Frog’s defence and told us that the Chav couldn’t help it, as he had a small brain. Frog looked at me and said "Right, lets f*ck off", so we left the entrance of Platform 9. The security door man said something like "That made my day" as we walked past, which was amusing. Whilst we were walking along the River Wey to Frog’s cottage, we stopped at a bench, so Frog could have a smoke. When we were sat there, a young guy staggered out of the darkness towards us. He was sniffing a lot, and looked a bit out of it. He asked Frog for a lighter, then he realised that he left his cigarette by the riverbank, so he went back into the darkness. We could see him stagger around for ages, until he returned back to our bench again with his cigarette. It turned out he was a student and had been taking cocaine. I was glad when he left. We walked on further to Frog’s cottage; it was quite dark and difficult to see walking, so I used the light from my mobile phone for some of the way. I crashed out for the night in one of Frog’s spare rooms in his cottage, as I could not bring my car to drive back home, due to the drinking. I came back home again this morning. 08/08/08 was a good date to have a wedding, as its a fairly symbolic number. I had a good night at Rob and Helen's wedding after party. I wonder who is going to get married next within my group of friends. I would quite like to have a wife. I have to find a suitable woman first though, but maybe soon it will happen.
